PSIA Western Alpine Demonstration Team
PSIA has one national and nine divisional Demonstration Teams (Demo Team/D-Team). The national Demonstration Team (selected every four years) is the highest level of achievement a member of our association can attain(not including Olympic competition). One must be a Divisional Demonstration Team member in order to try out for a position on the National Team. National team members travel throughout the country giving a variety of clinics. The National Academy is staffed exclusively from current and former D-team members, which makes it the finest event our organization offers.
Each division selects a new Demo team approximately every 3 years. In March 2007 the Western Division selected 10 instructors to represent the division, but they will compete individually for a position on the National Team in April 2008 (generally 12-15 candidates total are selected for the National Team from all 9 divisions).
The Western Demonstration Team serves their division by leading exceptional clinics, providing guidance and clarity to the technical knowledge that is spread throughout the division, and a strong visual image of good skiing technique. The Demonstration Team is on the cutting edge of movement patterns and skill development.
