The New Education Foundation

Leigh Pierini was selected as the new Education Foundation Chairperson in April, 2008. We have formed an Education Foundation Committee, consisting of Leigh Pierini, President, Barclay Moore, Vice-President, Katherine Hayes Rodriguez, Treasurer, Mitch Dion, Secretary, Chris Fellows, Past President, and Dave Achey, committee member. Every committee member has extensive investments, both personal and professional, to the Association.

The Committees' vision is to:

• Promote exceptional standards at all levels and disciplines of snow sport instruction
• Build leadership in individuals through education, training and adventure
• Inspire a lifelong passion for snow sports, adventure and the mountain experience
• Connect snow sport instructors of the world together in order to share, learn and grow

New Structure

As part of the overall effort to increase understanding of the Foundation's work in the membership, the Committee has created a new organizational structure.The Education Foundation and the Sodergren Fund in the past 10 years have been a name that is one in the same.  This committee has cleared some blurred lines to make your membership donations and the services the Foundation provides easier to understand.

Specifically, the restructuring will fall out as follows:

The Education Foundation is a part of the division and is set up as a non-profit corporation with a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt status.  Within this foundation, there are scholarships offered.  The Sodergren Scholarship remains an important part of our Foundation offerings.  The committee has broadened the scholarship offerings to:

• Provide benefits to all certified levels of instructors and all disciplines
• Assist instructors based on economic need
