Nordic Fall Symposium

This is the BIG event on the western division Nordic calendar. It features three days of cross country and telemark clinics, exam prep courses, indoor clinics (such as waxing/ski prep), social events, and a general membership meeting. Clinic leaders include present and former PSIA demonstration team members, divisional clinic leaders and examiners, and nationally recognized racers, coaches and skiing celebrities.

This event is generally scheduled during the second week of December. For the convenience of members living at opposite ends of the state, the venue alternates between Mammoth, Tahoe/Donner Summit and Bear Valley each year.

Check this page for a schedule of events. As always, the schedule is subject to change due to weather, snow conditions and participant interest. Whenever possible, a full range of clinics for cross country and telemark skiers of all levels will be offered each day.

This event is a great opportunity to meet and ski with your Nordic colleagues from across the division. It is also a good time to start the season with a technique tune up or tip from a world class Nordic coach.

The Cross Country events will be held at Royal Gorge, and the Telemark events at Sugar Bowl. The cost for all education events is $ 60 per day. Participants will be required to purchase lift tickets unless they hold a pass at the above areas. Expected prices are: $ 15 at Sugar Bowl, $ 10 at Royal Gorge, and no charge at Auburn Ski Club. Symposium clinics are open to non-members of PSIA/AASI, provided they sign the Western Division waiver and release of liability.

The ‘no-host’ banquet will be held on Thursday, Jan. 10, 6pm at Zano’s Restaurant in Truckee.

• Telemark Preps:
• There will NOT be Telemark Preps offered during the event of Jan. 9-11. See the Event Calendar to find the offered dates of Telemark Preps.
• XC Preps:
• We will offer the XC Level 1 Prep on Jan. 10 at Royal Gorge ($70)
• We will offer the XC Level 2/3 Prep (combined) at Tahoe Donner on Jan. 11, 2008 ($80/$90)
• Examiner Training:
• Jan. 7, 2008 XC Examiner Training at Auburn Ski Club
• Jan. 8, 2008 Telemark Examiner Training at Sugar Bowl
